Fiesta Mall was possibly Phoenix’s most popular mall and meeting space. Like many malls, the once-thriving retail and entertainment center lost customers to online merchants and Covid threw the knockout punch. Now, the site of a once-iconic mall could get a reset and return to its original stature.
Verde Investments Inc. proposes to do just that at the site of the closed Fiesta Mall in Mesa. The Phoenix Business Journal reports the Tempe-based company filed a rezoning application with the city of Mesa making way for a mixed-use development. Verde proposes building up to 4,000 apartment units but also up to 750,000 square feet of office space; 1.1 million square feet for commercial use, including a hotel; and more than 520,000 square feet of open space.
Those proposed plans come with a new project name: Fiesta Redefined.
