PUNE: Altogether 370 projects in the state have been issued show-cause notices and fined Rs 33 lakh for not printing the MahaRERA registration numbers and the QR codes.
Of these, 173 are from Mumbai region followed by 162 from Pune region, and 35 from Nagpur.
Officials on Tuesday told TOI that these projects were earlier issued show-cause notices and later given a hearing by the MahaRERA after which a penalty of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 was levied on developers. MahaRERA has already recovered Rs 22 lakh from developers.
Since August 1 this year, MahaRERA had made it mandatory for developers to display QR codes on advertisements or pay a penalty up to Rs 50,000.
Officials said that they have appealed to citizens not to invest in projects that are being promoted without QR codes or project registration numbers.
“Citizens have to be given complete information and developers have been pulled up for this,” added the official.
